turmeric

The turmeric plant has been used as a remedy for thousands of years and is also used more and more in the western world. Where does turmeric originate? How can it be used and what healing effect can the plant have?
The turmeric, also called ginger, comes from South Asia and is mainly grown on the Indian subcontinent, in Indonesia, the South American tropics and China. It belongs to the ginger family family and has been used in traditional Chinese medicine and Avuryeda medicine in India for over 5,000 years.
In the western world, turmeric has so far been more in a spice form in the kitchen cabinet. However, there has been a change here in recent years, which means that it is increasingly intensive in this country with the medical effectiveness of the yellow root - as a further name of turmeric.

Rootstock

In the rhizome - the rootstock of the turmeric, which is very similar to that of the ginger - there is also the natural dye curcumin in addition to essential oils. Curcumin ensures the strong, yellow coloring of turmeric and is also responsible for the color of mustard, margarine or pasta.
